It is a late review, the work was done around June. This place is probably one of the best Auto repair shops around and it is a bonus that it is in Castro Valley! Another shop in Castro Valley did some work on my wheels, brakes, and suspension and they recommended that I replace the wheel bearings in one of the wheels ASAP, but unfortunately, the bearings on the older cars need to be pressed and they do not have a pressing machine. They recommended a shop on the Blvd. which I was familiar with. I requested for a quote at that shop, which at the time I thought was reasonable, this was after already spending nearly $8K from the previous shop, perhaps I was already tired and just ready to use my car. Fortunately, they were not available on the schedule I can bring my car so I had to look for another shop and thankfully I called Prime Automotive. The person I spoke with (sorry I forgot your name) was accommodating and I think he is a manager. I explained to him what i needed and he said that they do have a press and they can do the work. He explained to me the work that they will do and what other part(s) they need to replace to get the job done right, and gave me a complete quote which was much lower! He also mentioned that in most cases, they recommend that the bearings on both wheels should be replaced but because I only requested for one (I was already way over budget) they will work on the one I requested. He told me he will save the quote using my phone number and when I bring the car, just let the person know that there was already a quote saved. I brought the car and provided my phone number and the person at the counter pulled up the quote. I also forgot the name (double sorry), I think he is one of the mechanics. He told me that there are two cars they are working on so he asked if it was okay if the car stays overnight? I was not expecting them to finish it on the same day anyway since I came later than I planned to come in on a Saturday. However, about 2 hours later I got a call and he told me that they will be able to work on my car and they will try to get it done before their closing time but they will call me first. Then another two hours later, they called again to inform me that the car was ready for pick up! Talking about under promising and over delivering! Will I recommend this place? HECK YA!!!!! I now know where I will bring my car next time and I know there are more work I will need soon. As a CV local, I highly recommend this place!!

You should read this because these stars were hard won. I've been to other shops in Castro Valley over my car's lighting issue. I've been over-charged, bait and switched, wildly underwhelmed, and still, my car's lights didn't work after paying out far too much money. When i brought my car in to these folks, they listened. They were kind. They had a specialist in San Jose who drove up to check on my car, for which they didn't charge extra. They spent extra time making sure they knew exactly what was going on before they even came up with the estimate. They got a good price on the part and didn't throw a huge up-charge on it. On top of all that, and all the time and effort they put into this, they only charged me for an hour of labor. Even better, they got the job done perfectly. Honesty. Integrity. Amazing skills. They may not have the fanciest shop in Castro Valley, but they have the best crew in Castro Valley. I won't be taking my car anywhere else from now on.

Unfortunately, after a tune-up on my 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee (just plugs and a manifold gasket) my fuel milage decreased from 18+ MPG to less than 16 MPG.

Prime Automotive replaced my entire engine. This was difficult and time consuming work but they did a Great job and reasonable pricing. Replacing an engine includes a host of other mechanical issues.

Joey was great! He quoted me over the phone and was very transparent with the pricing. My repair was a window issue, but all other places wanted me to bring it in first and charge me diagnostics before they would quote or tell me what they thought was wrong. As i asked everyone else, i wanted worst case and he did it based on what i was experiencing, which i couldnt give him much. I trusted what he had to say just with 1 conversation. I would recommend him to anyone and thank him for getting my car in and out of the shop very fast.

My car was making a strange noise and i'm new to the area and found them on google. They have excellent reviews so I called for a diagnostic and they were able to take me in immediately. They called me later and explained they couldnt replicate the issue but cleaned up a problem I had and didnt charge me! These guys are great; very friendly & personable but above all, honest. It's really hard to find honest shops nowadays and ones that don't overcharge you. My car is running great now, and I will definitely come back. I highly recommend them if you're in the area!

I brought in an old vehicle that had a check engine light with multiple error codes. I was given an estimate for replacing all plugs, an ignition coil, an oxygen sensor, as well as performing transmission fluid flush. When picking up the vehicle, I was told all the plugs were fine and didn't need replacing. The actual bill came in lower than the estimate, which is always a pleasant surprise. I will definitely be returning for my next repair service.

Great experience here! I bring my Audi here for oil changes. I have dealt with 3 different people and they are all so friendly and professional. They did a full inspection, explained everything clearly, and gave me a heads-up on future maintenance without ANY pressure. Pricing is very reasonable, especially compared to dealership costs. After Joe charged for $165 and gave estimate for $4,351 for the engine light to my sister's car, I visited them. He said he needs to change the head gasket (not needed), and he wanted to charge 19 hours of labor machining the motor body (it does not even make sense, he lied big time). The car only needed 2 spark plugs :) We now know because we took the car to another shop, asked them to change all 4 spark plugs and their coils, all for $600. We also received an estimate of $1,050 if we ever need to change the head gasket. They are rootless when they see a lady customer. It is a shame, how this people can get 4.9 stars?

When I arrived, the staff advised a 45-minute to an hour wait for an oil change, so I ran errands to pass the time. Upon my return, they took my car immediately and estimated a 30-minute wait.
